Do you lthink this gift is appropriate,and will he like it?

I got a special friend of mine a wallet for his graduation gift. It is a Bass one,and I thought he could use it after he gets in the pros because he is one of the most talented athletes I have ever seen. (Thought I would enclose a note and say somethng cute like you can use this to put that big time money in after you sign your contract.) I got the other student athlete a gift card from Macy;s which is also where this wallet came from. Should I go ahead and give him the wallet or go back and get him a gift card too. By the way, he doesn't have a nice wallet. This is a passcase,and it is silk fabric with genuine leather. I can't decide what to do, so I need some help here,please?
