Ipod Purse Speakers

Just bought an Ipod touch and I need speakers I can take to the beach that sounds really good...?

Please only answer if you have something to contribute...I've looked at a lot of the models, I just don't know which ones SOUND good....it's not like I can go listen to them all at the store since they are pretty much available online only. They aren't going to get put in water, but need to survive a little outdoor heat and whatnot. I don't need special protection for my ipod as I'll just leave it in my purse ...looking for like some plug in speakers as opposed to a dock I'm thinking would be best. Hopefully there's an ipod gadget wizard on here....help!
I wanted the bose really really bad...their sound quality is superb...but would these be safe to use at the beach? They are expensive and I would hate to ruin them at the beach. Have you taken them outdoors with success?

the Bose music player speaker works really well. I gought them for christmas along with my i-touch and the speakers work really well.
