In the video clip Cool by Gwen Stefani, you can see she had a romance with a guy and the guy slowly gets disinterested. The new guy comes to visit Gwen in a huge expensive mansion and Gwen gives the new girlfriend her ring. What ring is this and why does she give it to her?

The guy is supposed to be her ex-boyfriend Tony from No Doubt. She gives her the ring because she gets along with her and considers her a friend as well as her ex. She gives it to her to show her appreciation for their friendship. You can clearly see when the new girl thanks Gwen for it. The guy smiles as he sees his ex and new girlfriend getting along. Gwen clealy and obviously still has a little bit of feelings for him, she looks upset because she remembers when they were together. Even though she's happy for them and their friendship, it probably hurts to see him with someone else.
She admitted to him being her first love, she shows her feelings well through the video.
